It was a hot summer day when I met him on the construction site next to my parents’ house. Under the sweat and dirt, Manning Sutter was as handsome as the sun was bright. He was older, darker, experienced. I wore a smiley-face t-shirt and had never even been kissed. Yet we saw something in each other that would link us in ways that couldn’t be broken...no matter how hard we tried.

I loved Manning before I knew the meaning of the word. I was too young, he said. I would wait. Through all the carefully-chosen words hiding what we knew to be true, through his struggle to keep me innocent, and through infinitely-starry nights—I would wait. But I’d learn that life isn’t always fair. That no matter how much you achieve, none of it matters if you suffer the heartbreak that comes with falling for someone you can never have. Because even though I saw Manning first, that didn’t matter. My older sister saw him next.

~Review~
Well, I will start off by saying thank you to Jessica Hawkins for shredding my heart in little tiny pieces. When I was done with reading this book I literally felt my heart breaking, I mean that one line at the end did me in man. The entire time I was reading this story I was saying to myself 'damn this book is very intense." It was intense but at the same time it was beautifully written in a way that you can help but to be drawn to the story and it's characters.

I didn't know where the whole love triangle story line was coming from but I was really surprise when I really got into the story and saw the journey that Jessica was taking us on. Some might say it is taboo but to me the whole thing was so innocent that I am craving for more because I cannot wait to see where these characters will end up, not only that I loved the way Jessica told it and you cannot helop but to fall in love with this book as much as I did. All I will say is there's angst with this book, there are places that Jessica takes you that you will never expect but in the end you will love it.

I am looking forward to the next book in this series, I will sit and wait patiently.
