What’s a girl
to do when the one person she’s been forewarned about is the only one that her
heart desires?
Leah Valdez is
a sassy, intelligent, hard-working woman whose beauty shines from both inside
and out. Friends and family have always come first, but it's time for her to
start thinking about her own future.
Stefen Hunter
is a rich, charming, sexy playboy. With seemingly no effort on his part,
countless women flock to him. That is, until he meets Leah. He can’t understand
why it’s so difficult to win her over or what it is about her that intrigues
him so much.
When an
unfortunate event intertwines their lives, Leah finds herself in a war between
her thoughts and desires. To forgive, and ultimately trust, Stefen, she will
have to put her heart on the line. After what he’s put her through, she’s not
sure she’s willing to do that.
As
compassion meets resistance, will Stefen be able to step out of his comfort
zone and accept that he can become the redeemed man worthy of Leah’s love? Is
Stefen and Leah’s connection strong enough to withstand An Exceptional Twist?
~Excerpt~
Hearing the
knock at her door, she opened it to find her favorite person wearing his fitted
dark jeans, grey pullover, and black boots.
“I don’t
know why you won’t just use the key I gave you, Stefen.” She strolled into the
kitchen.
He followed
close behind. “What would you do if you were standing in the living room naked,
and I walked in on you?”
Die of
embarrassment. “Good point.” She nodded once.
She twirled
around to find him twitching his lips. His pupil’s looked dilated.
Was he
actually picturing it? Oh my.
How much
longer were they going to keep playing this game of touching and not
touching? Leah was getting worn out by it.
Looking at
his lips, she shook her head to snap out of it. But she couldn’t. The desire
between them was palpable. He wanted her, and she definitely wanted him.
Her hand slowly pushed up his chest where she felt his heart beating
erratically. They both stood still.
Oh shit,
what are we doing?
Stefen
moved in closer, holding onto her waist as he pulled her body flush with
his. Moving his hand to her face, he rubbed his thumb along her bottom
lip. “Leah,” he breathed out asking for permission.
“I feel it,
too,” she whispered, blinking rapidly, feeling both fear and longing.
Closing his
eyes, he moved his hands to the back of her neck, threading his fingers in her
hair as he pulled her head to his chest. Taking quick breathes he said
the words that had already played out in her own thoughts. “We have to
talk about this. I’ve been fighting it for a while, and it’s not going
away.”
“I
know. Can we wait until tonight, please? I don’t want to rush through it
and there’s not enough time right now.” She took short, shallow breaths,
closing her eyes as she listened to his pounding heartbeat. As much as
she wanted him, she couldn’t help the fear she felt.
Holding
on even tighter, he grunted, “Okay. Tonight. But you make me wait any longer,
and I’m coming after you.”
Kimi
grew up in the San Gabriel Valley (mostly Alhambra) and still lives in Southern
California. She’s been married to her high-school sweetheart and prom date for
21 years and they have two hilarious boys.
When
she’s not reading or writing, Kimi spends her time in the kitchen trying to
come up with vegan meals that don’t taste like cardboard. Her family might
disagree with this however.
Although
she doesn’t loyally follow or have favorite teams/athletes, Kimi loves a good
hockey game or motorcross/x-treme sports event.
Volunteering
is extremely important to her and she and her family work with several local
non-profit organizations. A portion of her sales will always go to
charity.
She’s
planning on publishing the last two books in this series by the end of the
year. Book 3, Grafted Vines, is Dani & Zachary’s story and book 4,
Tangled Paths, is Bri & Josh’s journey. And because every character has
a story to tell, there’s a possibility of a novella about Stefen and Bri’s
mother’s life. There’s a reason she acts the way she does and she may bug Kimi
enough to have it written out.

~Review~
An Exceptional Twist was by far one of the best romance novels I have
read. I feel in love with these characters ever since reading “It Started With
a Lima Bean”, Kimi Flores executed every single scene with great precision. I
loved me some Leah man, nothing like a wonderful, feisty, strong willed, sexy
ass Latina woman. She’s what I call the perfect friend, sister and daughter;
she has everyone’s best interest at heart. It was crazy that she thought she
could just ignore Stefen, even though he was trouble with a capital “T”, but
what woman doesn’t like a little trouble. Now let me get to Mr. Stefen Hunter,
he tries to hide his sensitive side by being a snobby, asshat, but deep down
the real Stefen was waiting to be revealed, and it was revealed when tragedy
struck. Even though him and Leah left things on a very bad note she was there
for him, with that happening they started to build their relationship, I don’t
even think they realized that they were doing just that thing. To see Stefen so
vulnerable and seeing him changed into the man that he was deep down inside was
one of the most beautiful things that I’ve experience in this book. Now let me
talk about his mother, it’s crazy that she acts so stuck up knowing damn well
that she came from nothing, it goes to show that money changes some people. The
love scenes yes love not sex, was like no other, for some reason Kimi wrote
them with such innuendos that to be honest will still have you loving, it goes
to show that you don’t need brazen sex scenes to write an incredible love
story, and she does it so well. And oh lets no forget about Ms. Madison Hunter,
she steals the show very damn time, love her. Great book by an author that I
can call a friend, excellent writing by Kimi, I can’t wait to find out what she
has in store for us next.
